Área geográfica

No município da Madalena, a freguesia do mesmo nome e as de Candelária, Criação Velha e Bandeiras, em áreas de altitude igual ou inferior a 100 m; No município de São Roque, a freguesia de Santa Luzia e parte da freguesia da Prainha, lugar da Baía de Canas, em áreas de altitude igual ou inferior a 100 m; No município das Lajes, a freguesia da Piedade, nos lugares de Engrade e Manhenha, em áreas de altitude igual ou inferior a 100 m;

Solos

Litólicos não húmidos e litossolos, sobre substrato consolidado de basaltos ou rochas afins, correspondente a lavas recentes, associadas a afloramentos rochosos, por vezes com material pedregoso disseminado e manto lávico consolidado à superfície;

Recognition: It is recognized DOP - Peak for the production of fortified wines.

Geographical area:

In the municipality of Madalena, a parish of the same name and the Candelaria, Old Creation and flags in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

In the municipality of San Roque, the parish of Santa Luzia and part of the village of Prainha, in the Bay of Canas in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

In the municipality of Lajes, the village of Piedade, in places of Engrade and Manhenha in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

Soil: not moist litholic and lithosols on consolidated substrate basalts and related rocks, corresponding to recent lavas associated with rocky outcrops, sometimes with widespread stony materials and lava consolidated mantle to the surface;

recommended varieties: Verdelho, Arinto and Terrantez;

Varieties authorized: Malvasia, Sercial, Generosa, Fernão Pires Galician Gold;

yield per hectare: 50 hl.

Stage: minimum of three years in wooden casks.

Total alcoholic strength of wine: not less than 16% vol ..

Recognition: It is recognized DOP - Peak for the production of quality wines and sparkling wines.

Geographical area:

In the municipality of Madalena, a parish of the same name and the Candelaria, Old Creation and flags in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

In the municipality of San Roque, the parish of Santa Luzia and part of the village of Prainha, in the Bay of Canas in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

In the municipality of Lajes, the village of Piedade, in places of Engrade and Manhenha in altitude areas equal to or less than 100 m;

Varieties: At least 80% of the total volume of the must should come from Arinto the Azores, Terrantez Pico and Verdelho.

The remainder of the total volume of the must, may come from the following varieties: Arinto, Chardonnay, Fernão Pires, Galician Gold, Generosa, Gouveio, Malvasia, Malvasia Fina, Moscatel Galego Branco, Muscat Graúdo, Rio Grande, New Seara, Sercial and Viosinho.

Product characteristics:

Musts for quality wines must have an actual alcoholic strength in minimum natural power of 10% vol.

Must intended for the sparkling base wine must have an alcoholic strength by volume in minimum natural power of 10% vol.

Quality wines must have an actual alcoholic strength full of not less than 10.5%.

Sparkling wines must have an actual alcoholic strength full of not less than 11.5%.

Stage: quality wine can be bottled after a minimum six-month internship.
